Institute of Bankers in Malawi has the following categories of members.

Student Member
This is an individual who is studying and writing exams to pursue an Advanced Diploma. The member can also be an individual who is already working in the banking and financial services industry but has not completed the Institute’s qualifications in banking either Diploma or Degree.

Diplomate

An individual who holds an Advanced Diploma of Institute of Bankers in Malawi
Graduate Member
An individual who holds a degree in banking from the University of Malawi or any other accredited University.

Associate Member
This is an individual who is working in a Bank/ Financial Institution and has successfully completed the Institute’s Diploma or Professional Diploma or Degree in Banking and Finance or has CIB qualifications from other institutions other than IOBM.

Life Member
Life Member
This is an individual who have rendered services to the institute or banking industry and have knowledge and experience
Fellow
This is an individual who is a senior professional and qualified banker in the banking industry. A could be a CEO of a bank and Directors.

Honorary Fellow
Fellowship is the highest grade of membership. A special application form will be filled out by the applicant. Fellows shall be elected by the Institute These will be individuals who have distinction in the field of banking, Finance, economics, management and academic in Recognition of their special contribution to the Institute.

Ordinary Member
This is an individual who neither works in the banking & finance industry nor studying with the Institute, but has an active interest in the banking industry.
